Abstract
To develop efficient and easily recoverable iodine adsorbent materials, a platinum coated copper (PCC) material coated with platinum on the surface of copper powder was prepared and used for the adsorption of gaseous iodine. During the PCC preparation process, this study explored the effects of reaction conditions such as chloroplatinic acid dosage, reaction temperature on the adsorption performance of PCC. The preparation process was optimized by orthogonal experiment. The results showed that PCC had high adsorption performance and recovery rate for gaseous iodine. The adsorption capacity of PCC for gaseous iodine could reach 1279 mg/g, and the recovery rate of iodine was more than 98.5%. The mechanism for the adsorption of gaseous iodine by PCC was then probed and proposed by EDX and XPS tests. The research results laid a foundation for the capture and leaching recovery of iodine in the process of production of iodine-125.
