Establishment of a Production Line for the Fabrication of Mega-curie Sealed ⁶⁰Co Sources

In order to change the status that highly radioactive ⁶⁰Co sources in China are dependent on imports, the fabrication technology of sealed ⁶⁰Co sources was successfully developed and a mega Curie production line was established. This paper describes the hot cell facilities for the ⁶⁰Co source encapsulation and quality control, the model and main technical parameters of the sealed ⁶⁰Co source, the fabrication process, some key techniques in the research and development of the sealed ⁶⁰Co source, etc.
