The evaluation of ocular acupuncture on cerebral infarction with cerebral blood flow perfusion imaging

  • Objective to evaluate the immediate effect of ocular acupuncture on patients with cerebral infarction by SPECT image of cerebral blood flow daily stress test,to explore the mechanism about treating cerebral infarction by ocular acupuncture. Material and Methods Comparable group are 20 healthy people and experimental group are 10 patients diagnosed as cerebral infarction by CT or MRI. They all received two times of 99mTc-ECD SPECT image before and after ocular acupuncture. By means of image subtraction technology and semi-quantitative method of regional interesting area, change of regional cerebral blood flow was observed between the two images. Result After acupuncture hypoperfusion of cerebral blood flow was found at the frontal Lobe、the cerebellum、the basal ganglia and temporal lobe. Under resting hypoperfusion of cerebral blood flow was found in 18 areas. after ocular acupuncture cerebral blood flow was improved obviously in 16 areas, not obviously in 2 areas. Reactivity was high in focus of the frontal Lobe and the cerebellum(average improvement rate was 55.15% and 53.06% respectively),low in the basal ganglia and temporal lobe(average improvement rate was 31.79% and 36.67% respectively). Conclusion 99mTc-ECD SPECT cerebral perfusion image has significant clinic value for evaluating the effect about ocular acupuncture to treat cerebral infarction.
