The Relevance Between Muscle Intervention for Rat Skeletal Muscle Glucose Uptake and the Expression of NF-κB

  • Musclin impairs insulinstimulated glucose uptake in the differentiation of C2C12 myocytes. In these cells, musclin reduce 3HG uptake, but the expression level of GLuT4 is not altered. Studies of the myocytes revealed that the expression level of NFκB and IL6 is increased, compared with that of myocytes preincubated in a musclinfree medium. The results indicate that musclininduced insulin resistance can be studied in rat skeletal muscle in vitro. They suggest that musclininduced impairment of insulin action in these muscles is related to NFκB pathway.
