Strontium-99 production through Medical Isotope Production Reactor(MIPR)

  • Medical Isotope Production Reactor (MIPR) is a new type reactor for isotope production, it’s an aqueous homogeneous solution reactor that use High Enriched Uranium (HEU) or Low Enriched Uranium (LEU) as fuel. strontium-89 is bone seeking Radiopharmaceuticals used for Palliation of Bone Pain from Osseous Metatases. The current status of strontium-89 production in the world, the structure and characteristic of MIPR and the principle of strontium-89 production through MIPR were described.
