Studies of 46Sc Extraction with PMBP

  • The solvent extraction of 46Sc has been investigated in the HCl medium using 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-bonzoyl-5-pyrazone (PMBP) as extractant and chloroform or cyclohexane as diluent. The experimental results reveal that PMBP is an effective extractant for Sc from dilute HCl solutions. The solvent extraction of 46Sc is compared with that of 234Th in the HCl medium by PMBPCHCl3. It is found that 234Th can be separated from Sc by control of the HCl acid concentration.
