Applications of Environmental Isotopes for the Assessment on the Formation and Ages of Pollutant in Soil

  • As the development of industry, agriculture and other human activities, a increased risk of majority pollutant to environment and health is coming forwards. It is very important to investigate the cause, formation and ages of pollutant in soil for the purpose to control and manage the pollutant. The trace techniques of environmental isotopes are used as a sensitive approach, which has been developed in recently years. The current developments in the use of the environmental isotopes of 7Be、137Cs、210Pb、13C and 14C to study on the formation of pollutant, contaminative proceedings and ages are reviewed. The prospect of the applied foreground for the technique is discussed, which will provide the basic data and theories for the control of further contamination of pollutants and the remediation of polluted soil to achieve a sustainable development of agriculture and environment.
