Preliminary Study on Response of Paraffin Thickness Using Amplitude Spectrum of Scattered Neutron

  • The response of the paraffin thickness using the amplitude spectrum of scattered neutron is studied. The experiment device consists of a neutron source of 241Am-Be, a detector of Li -glass and the BH1224 multichannel spectrometer. The results show that there is a good linear relationship between the counting Y and the paraffin thickness D when 0≤D≤54.7 mm. Linear fitting for the front 7 points measured when 0≤D≤54.7 mm is used. The slope is the biggest when r=5.5 cm, and the measuring accuracy of the paraffin thickness is 2.5 mm.
