Preliminary Study on Response of Paraffin Thickness Using Amplitude Spectrum of Scattered Neutron

Abstract
The response of the paraffin thickness using the amplitude spectrum of scattered neutron is studied. The experiment device consists of a neutron source of 241Am-Be, a detector of Li -glass and the BH1224 multichannel spectrometer. The results show that there is a good linear relationship between the counting Y and the paraffin thickness D when 0≤D≤54.7 mm. Linear fitting for the front 7 points measured when 0≤D≤54.7 mm is used. The slope is the biggest when r=5.5 cm, and the measuring accuracy of the paraffin thickness is 2.5 mm.
