Measurement of Atom Numbers of Compound α Source by Using a Gridded Ionization Chamber

  • Atom numbers of the isotopes of a compound α source are measured by using a gridded ionization chamber (GIC). Make full use of the characteristics of the GIC, the self-absorption and scattering effects are corrected, and the precise results are derived. The study establishes the basis of the further experiment of the light nuclei (n,α) reaction. The method can also be used in measuring the weak α source.
