Verification of Counting Efficiency Correction Factor of the Measurement of Global beta Radioactivity in Soil Sample

  • Two different experimental methods are used to verify the applicability of counting efficiency correction factor in the global beta radioactivity measurement of environmental soil sample. For the same foil sample, the amount of radioactive nuclide 238 U, 232 Th, 226 Ra, 40 K is measured respectively by γ ray spectrometer, the global beta radioactivity of the sample is calculated ( C (β) calculate ), and then measured directly by chemical method ( C (β) measure ). Counting efficiency correction factor K = C (β) calculate / C (β) measure. The result shows that K gotten in this experiment is accordant with that by standard sample 1 , all they are 0.77. The same result is gotten for littoral area soil.
