RADIOPHARMACEUTICALS FOR THE TREATMENT OF PAINFUL OSSEOUS METASTASIS

  • Bone metastasis occurs in up to 85% of patients who have breast, lung and prostate cancer. The relief of pain and improvement of life quality are management keys for these patients. External beam therapy, opioid analgesics and hormone are effective for pain relief, but with side effects. Radiopharmaceuticals, ~(186)Re-HEDP and ~(153)Sm-EDTMP have significant effect not only for pain relief, but also for treatment and diagnosis with less side effects. So the radiopharmaceuticals have a good clinical prospect for relief of painful osseous metastasis.
