SCHOOL CHILDREN TSH IRMA ON EAR BLOOD SPOT IN EVALUATION OF IDD

  • Using immunoradiometricassay(IRMA) on blood spot, TSH Ievels were determined of ear blood of children aged 9—14 years in both iodine deficiency and non-deficiency areas. The results of 2.87±0.36 mIU/1(G±SD)and 0.48±0.76 mIU/1(G±SD) were obtained, respectively. And, interestingly, the finding was in quite correspondence with goitre rates of 37.1% and 5.3% as well as children urine iodine excretion of 34.5 μg/1 and 64.4 μg/1. All these data highly suggest that TSH IRMA on ear blood spot of children could be simple, easy adoptable and reliable in terms of its use in IDD monitoring and evaluation.
