AN ~(125)I POINT SOURCE FOR PORTABLE X-RAY RADIOGRAPH

  • A method of preparation of portable X-ray radiographic ~(125)I point source is reported. ~(125)I was extracted into CC1_4 solvent with an oxidizing agent in an acidic medium. The organic phase was separated from aqueous solution by centrifugation. Then a radioactive point source was prepared by adsorption of ~(125)I on activated charcoal particles from the organic solvent under shaking condition. The total recovery efficiency of ~(125)I is more than 90%.The source activity may be as much as 400GBq.
