COMPARISON OF IRRADIATION AND CHEMICAL STERILIZATION OF DISPOSABLE MEDICAL PRODUCTS

In this review the comparison of irradiation and EtO chemical sterilization of disposable medical products isdiscussed. From the comparison of the two methods on aspects of sterilization process, safety, materials and economic consideration, it can be seen that irradiotion method is much better than that of EtO chmical method. The practical conditions in China are also discussed. Chemical method may be developed due to its low cost, small scale and easier administration, but the residuals and environmental pollution should be controlled as far as possible.
