Abstract:
3He plays an irreplaceable role in the field of neutron detection and dilution refrigeration. Commercial
3He primarily comes from the production and storage of tritium, resulting in the limited reserve and production capacity. Owing to the burgeoning demand for dilution refrigerators driven by the development of quantum computation, the deficit of
3He increases continuously. Therefore, it is urgent to develop preparation methods. Acquisition of
3He through helium isotope separation technology has attracted much attention. This study evaluates the potential feasibility of extracting
3He from natural gas, atmosphere, lunar regolith, fusion reactor, and heavy water reactor cover gas. Furthermore, helium isotope separation technology including cryogenic superleak, heat flush, film climbing, cryogenic distillation, thermal diffusion, cryogenic adsorption, and membrane separation are systematically elucidated, to provide reference for the research on
3He preparation.
