Abstract:
Optical glass has significant applications in fields such as nuclear industry and aerospace. When optical glass works in the above scenarios, it often exposed to the impact of radiation fields. The radiation can cause the fading of the optical glass, thereby reducing its working performance, such as transmittance and refractive index. Therefore, how to effectively improve its radiation resistance is one of the key issues in the current research of optical glass. This paper briefly introduces the radiation environment faced by radiation-resistant optical glass and related radiation damage mechanism. The current research status in this field is also reviewed, focusing on the radiation mechanism and the various influencing factors of the fading process. The existing methods to improve the radiation resistance of optical glass, including basic composition optimization and doping with variable-valence elements, are systematically summarized and discussed. Finally, the future development direction of radiation-resistant optical glass is proposed. This paper can serve as a valuable reference for industry colleagues.
