锶-90同位素放射源韧致辐射降低方法模拟计算

Simulated Calculation of Bremsstrahlung Reduction Method for Sr-90 Isotope Radiation Source

  • 摘要: 为降低锶-90放射源产生的韧致辐射,利用MCNP程序,对锶-90同位素放射源的韧致辐射强度进行计算,得出放射源表面韧致辐射的剂量当量率。依据韧致辐射相关性质,即β粒子在与物质发生作用产生韧致辐射时,其韧致辐射产生的强度与物质的原子序数呈正相关,设计在放射源中加入低原子序数值的物质石墨,以降低放射源所产生的韧致辐射,并利用MCNP进行计算,得出掺入石墨后放射源表面的剂量当量率。MCNP计算结果表明,在锶-90放射源中掺入石墨后,放射源的韧致辐射剂量当量率有一定程度的降低。研究结果将对锶-90同位素放射源的设计提供借鉴。

     

    Abstract: In order to decrease the bremsstrahlung radiation intensity, the bremsstrahlung intensity of strontium-90 isotope radiation source is calculated by MCNP, and the dose equivalent rate of the surface bremsstrahlung is obtained. According to the properties of bremsstrahlung, the intensity of bremsstrahlung is positively correlated with the atomic number of the substance when beta particles interact with the substance to produce bremsstrahlung. So we consider adding some materials with low atomic number into the isotope radiation source, such as graphite, to reduce the bremsstrahlung radiation produced by the isotope radiation source, and use MCNP to calculate the dose equivalent rate of the source after incorporating with carbon. Calculated by MCNP, the equivalent rate of bremsstrahlung radiation dose of strontium-90 radiation source decreases to a certain extent when graphite is doped.The research and calculation results will provide some reference for the design of Sr-90 isotope radiation source.
