Abstract:
The supply of
99Mo will fall into crisis again and new technologies and new reactors for
99Mo production are required. The medical isotope production reactor (MIPR) is a reactor with
235UO
2(NO
3)
2 solution as the fuel, which has the advantages of low cost, less waste and more economic benefits. Al
2O
3 was used as separation material to separate and purify Mo from the simulated MIPR fuel solution. The results showed that the total recovery of Mo can reach more than 60% after two column separation, and the impurities such as U, Sr, Cs and I can be effectively separated from Mo. Therefore, the production of
99Mo from fuel solution of MIPR by using Al
2O
3 is feasible.
