Abstract: Disused radiation sources management work of city radiation waste storage vaults has its own characteristics. In the processing of the work, there are many factors which can influence the dose of staff. Some statistical results and implementation experience were got in the past management work of national city radioactive waste storage vaults. For the optimization of radiation protection, the characteristics and different radiation risks of the work were analyzed, combined with the statistical results and implementation experiences. Reasonable dose control methods were proposed for different risks. Besides that, we also collected and analyzed the dose data of the past management work of national city radioactive waste storage vaults. Some dose distribution characteristics were found，which can guide the radioprotection and provide a reference for the later work.
