Abstract: A lot of money is spent on dredging up navigation channels in China every year. The form, growth and consolidation of float mud in ocean outfalls and navigation channels directly leads to back silting. γ-ray gauge is a useful method for detecting the density and distribution of float mud and studying the rule of back silting.
