Abstract:

It is found that stimulated blood glucose level of the pa-tients is significantly higher than that of normal controls at 30 and 60 minutes. The blood insulin and C-peptide levels are also abnormally higher though not statistically significant. After effective treatment for the hyperthyroidism, the postprandial release curves of blood glucose, insulin and C-peptide return backto normal. The results show that hyperthyroxinemia in such circumstances has not irreversible effects onthe function of pancreatic βcells.
