Abstract: This paper studies the feasibility of measuring the carbon content of flying ash from coal burning power station by low energy gamma rays back-scatterring technique,An expression has been established for the relation between the carbon content and the back-scatterring intensity. Experimental calibration error is less than ±0,55％ (lσ). The sources of error are discussed.
